Q: Is digital audio better than analog audio?

A: The main advantages of digital audio transmission are the capability to reduce noise and distortion over long cable runs.  For the home theater environment where the cable lengths are relatively short, the difference is insignificant.  When connecting multi-channel audio, the digital format does have the convenience of one single cable, comparing to 6 or even more with analog audio cables.
